The All Progressives congress (APC) has come open on the issue of parallel congress in some states as it declares that the ruling party would not accept results from any congress outside the one conducted by the authentic congress committees.
The national publicity secretary, of APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Monday while reacting to incidences of parallel congress states that where such exist it is assumed an exercise in futility
During the ward congress, parallel congress were reported to have been conducted in Borno, Ondo, Kogi,Enugu and Kano.
It is also reported that a similar incidence occurred in Oyo state during the last weekend local government congress
Mr Bolaji, in his statement, emphasized that the only congress recognized by the party is that conducted by the congress committee in accordance with the constitution.
“The party’s position is that there is no such thing as parallel congress. The only congress recognised by the party is that conducted in accordance with the party constitution, which was organised by the congress committee charged by the party to organise such congress.
“We therefore regard any so-called parallel congresses as exercise in futility and attempt to cause confusion in the party.
The party maintained that any registered member APC knows ‘where and how’ to channels grievances as appeal panels are in place.
