… State Chairman regroups, suspends Vice Chairman and others
Tension brews in the Imo State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) as the state Chairman,Bar Peter Ezeobi gets suspension orders from a section of SEC.
The SEC made this known in Owerri on Tuesday through a communiqué signed by the Deputy State Chairman, Mr Chima Nwosu and five others and released to newsmen
The committee cited, among other things, what it described as his (Ezeobi’s) “undemocratic style of leadership that has seen the party lose the confidence of the people.”
According to the committee, Ezeobi has been autocratic and does not allow internal democracy in the party.
“In the past, he had undemocratically suspended Local Government Area (LGA) chairmen of the party. He usurped the position of financial secretary, making himself the custodian of all monies coming into the party’s coffers.
“In view of the aforementioned, the State Executive Committee, therefore resolves, in the final analysis, that Ezeobi is hereby suspended,” it said.
The committee also charged Nwosu to take over the running of the party and the performance of all duties of the state chairman until further notice.
However, a group among the State Executive Committee loyal to the embattled Chairman rose from her meeting on Wednesday to suspend the state Vice Chairman and her group.
The meeting which was held under heavy security cover at the party’s state head quarters declared the communiqué earlier released by the group loyal to the vice chairman as lacking in merit and called on the public to disregard same.
The growing tension may have been occasioned by the dissatisfaction expressed by the party’s stakeholders over the conduct of her 2019 primaries and delegates election recently.
Meanwhile, some aggrieved guber contestants are presently unveiling different party platforms in continuation of their pursuit.
