…other aspirants kick, heads to court
History is being made in imo state as father-in-law and governor of Imo state,Rochas Okorocha wins the All Progressives Congress(APC)Senate ticket for Imo West while the son-in-law, Mr Uche Nwosu becomes the governorship candidate.
Nwosu who incidentally was the immediate past Chief of Staff to Gov.Okorocha was returned as winner of the APC guber primary held across the state in a Direct exercise as organized by the ruling party under the committee headed by Ibrahim Agbabiaka.
However some governorship aspirants under a coalition known as the Imo Allied Forces, with Senator Hope Uzodimma and Eze Madumere, claimed that they were not part of the process, addding that they had gone to court to stop the primaries.
Meanwhile the result as declared by Agbabiaka,had the names of all nine governorship aspirants as having participated in the exercise and scores of votes credited to them.
The result as announced by the chairman of the electoral committee had it that Nwosu polled 269,524 votes to emerge winner of the heated contest, while Ololo and Gbujie followed with 6,428 and 4,855 respectively.
Other contestants polled as follows: Eche 2,454; Madumere, 2,646; Uzodimma 2,729; Anozie 3,248; Ejiogu 3,456; and Nlemoha 925.
On the Imo West senatorial district, Gov. Okorocha is said to have garnered 141,127 votes to beat the incumbent Senator Hope Uzodimma, who polled 1,359 votes and Senator Osita Izunaso, 24 votes.
In Imo North,an ex commissioner to Okorocha and University don, Nnamdi Obiaraeri according to the Committee Chairman polled 67,438 to win the incumbent senator representing Okigwe zone, Benjamin Uwajumogu, who polled 5,743 votes.
Also, in Imo East senatorial district, Emma Ojinere defeated the other two contestants,Chima Anthony and Maxwell Igwe having polled 41,562 votes according to the declared result.
