Imo: PDP cautions Party chieftains over extortion of aspirants

…to sanction any caught as aspirants get ready to sign MOU

In her bid to return to Imo state government house christened Douglas now Peoples House,the opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has declared her intention to tie all knots ahead the 2019 general elections.

The position of PDP was revealed to the Press by the State Chairman,Bar Babatunde Ezekwe after a stakeholders meeting held Monday at the Party state office along Owerri-Okigwe road,Owerri.

According to the state helmsman,the party has through her various organs decided that transparency must be the order in all her activities vowing that the coming primaries into the various office would be devoid of undue influence with the delegates electing persons to flag the party ticket.

He assured the aspirants of his readiness and that of the executives to abide by the code set out through transparent process as at no time would few persons determine who flags the party ticket in a state with millions of inhabitants.

Moreso,he emphasized on the stand of the party that every aspirant signs a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) to be drafted by the party making it possible for the contestants to abide by the decision of majority through voting process and to support persons emerging from same.

On his own, the Chairman of the Party’s elders forum,Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, cautioned party chieftains from extorting money from aspirants under the guise of support,promising the readiness of the PDP to sanction any caught in the web.

Meanwhile, the duo of Senator Samuel Anyanwu representing Imo East and the lawmaker representing Orlu,Orsu and Oru-East federal Constituency,Asiwaju Jerry Alagbaoso expressed deep conviction on the emergence of PDP governor,federal and State law maker come 2019.

In attendance at the stakeholders meeting were Party executives at various levels,Hon jones Onyeriri representing Nkwere,Isu,njaba and Nwangele federal const.,Senator Athan Achonu,Bar Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, and others.
