The leaders of All Progressives Congress(APC) gathered in Enugu on Thursday to appraise the position of the South-East geopolitical zone ahead the ruling party’s congress and National convention slated for May 14 in Abuja.
The South-East Vice Chairman in welcoming the leaders and other stakeholders commended them for the unity of purpose in the zone, and went-on to praise Senator Ifeanyi Ararume for his numerous support to the ruling party including paying rents of the zonal office
The Party leaders led by the Minister of Science and Technology and ex-governor of Abia state after their review and a communiqué produced and read by the National Vice Chairman,South-East,Mr Emma Eneukwu passed a vote of confidence on the President of Nigeria,Muhammudu Buhari for his effort at rebuilding the nation despite challenges
Also the Party leaders in the zone passed vote of confidence on Eneukwu and other members of the National Working Committee from the geopolitical zone and the State chaimen of the party for their effort at organizing the party in the zone.
However, a former member of the federal House of Representatives,Hon Emeka Nwogu in a press statement as sent out on thursday is crying wolf over the Enugu adoption and vote of confidence as handiwork of men who do not love the party.
Nwoogu said “Those who arranged the Enugu meeting and the purported Confidence Vote do not wish the Party well. If they do, they would have known that such action would have needed wide Consultations so that all the leaders and stakeholders could be carried along”.
“Some people flying straight to Enugu from Abuja and meeting without taking the grassroot people including stakeholders into consideration is very unfortunate”.
The ex-law marker insisted that, “the Enugu action is neither here nor there. Those who are working to divide the Party will not succeed. One had expected that those who love the Party should be concerned about its Victory at the Polls and not to engage in actions that would attract reservations to the Party”.
At the Enugu meeting were the deputy governor of Imo state,Prince Eze Madumere though we could not ascertain if he represented the governor of Imo state whose absence was noticed,Dr Jim Nwobodo,Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu,Senator Andy Uba,Senator Ifeanyi Ararume,Senator Osita Izunaso,Senator Agboti,Mr George Muoghala,Mrs Tina Adike,Emperor Baywood Ibe,Sir Jude Ejioju,My Amarachi Iwuanyanwu and others.
