The senator representing Imo East in the nation’s senate chambers,Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has declared his readiness to take over from the incumbent governor of Imo State come 2019.
Senator Anyanwu who made his intention known to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) stakeholders at the State Party office along Owerri-Okigwe road on thursday,March 29,2019 vowed to return the PDP to winning ways.
The Ikeduru-born Politician while making his intention known declares that he by reason of stepping into declaration venue has possessed all the PDP members in the state’s 27 local government areas.
The Senator said,I have come to “run a government that focuses on developing the economy of the state and making it the hub of south-East market by identifying and developing viable areas of comparative advantage”
“Grow an internally generated revenue(IGR) of the state by activating roboust private sector business engagement,increase earnings of the people and get them to pay taxes and duties effortlessly
“Gurranttee a qualitative and holistic free education,with a clear path on sustainability of funding
“Restore local government system and town unions,giving them every necessary support that will bring about grassroot development”
Moreso,Samdaddy promised that with the mandate of imolites,he will end all forms of “deprivation,humiliation and hardship that civil servants,pensioners,artisans,market men and women,the clergy,traditional rulers are experiencing”
He hinged the problems of the state on leadership as he states:” we have not been able to provide the righ leadership that would have propelled our economy to prosperity instead of poverty.the abaundant natural and human resources endowed on us by God have been poorly managed.If our natural and human resources have been properly harnessed prudently and judiciously managed,Imo would have been one of the richest states if not the richest in Nigeria”
On the fate of PDP,he cautioned Party members to shun ‘impunity and high-headedness in political engagement as it weakens party’,making it ‘vulnerable to external and internal manipulations and deprives us of the qualities of a formidable political party’
He maintained that he is not in PDP to “fight or outwit anybody,rather to provide leadership without acrimony and rancor” but beckoned on the party faithful to “elect people that are acceptable to the masses and can lead us to victory in the general ection”
Speaking on the aspiration,Senator Matheaw Ogide,Edo South, said that the Senate caucus including the leadership is supporting Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu,because he is dependable and has grounded experience in legislative and Executive workings.
Moreso,Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, declared Samdaddy as a son in whom he is well pleased while reminding to people that Samddy has never failed elections before.
The State PDP Chairman,Bar Charles Babatunde Ezekwem, in his speech promised to provide a lawful level playing field to all aspirant while distancing the state working committee from the assumption of being in a caged party. He went on declaing the readiness of the PDP to protect anyone choosen by the members to fly the party’s flag to remove the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Imo State.
The duo of Dr Fabian Ihekweme and Mr Thankgod Ezeani gave their goodwill messages from Okigwe and Orlu zone respectively.
Senator Anyanwu was flanked by a hordes of Law Makers-Senators Obinna Ogba from Ebonyi,Phillip Nyoka from Nasarawa state, law maker representing Mbaitolu/Ikeduru,Hon Henry Nwanwuba,and others.
