Okigwe zone leaders meet in Isiala Mbano
...as Dr Ikedi Ohakim returns from sabbatical
Political leaders from Okigwe Zone on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, met at the Burma Retreat home of former Governor Ikedi Ohakim and had sweeping deliberations on the political future of the people of the Zone.
During the meeting which was well attended by Okigwe Zone leaders, Dr Ikedi Ohakim announced his return to active partisan politics after about two years of withdrawing from active partisan politics.
The leaders erupted in joy when the former Governor announced: "I am back from sabbatical", and welcomed him back, pledging their unflinching royalty.
The former Governor said the meeting was a platform for all leaders of Okigwe Zone to say their mind on the best way forward for the Zone and take decisions that would be in the best interest of the people towards actualizing their political aspirations.
After rigorous deliberations on political developments in the state with particular attention on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the leaders resolved to exert their energy towards repairing the damaged vehicle of the PDP.
The leaders also resolved to set up a committee that is made up of competent men and women to meet with the National Chairman of the PDP and demand the immediate reinstatement of stacked elected executives of the party in the 27 local government areas and 305 wards of the state, that were elected prior to the National Convention that was held recently in Abuja.
The Okigwe Zone leaders said the committee has a period of 14 days to complete their work. They also resolved to seek alternative political platform should the National Chairman of the PDP not agree to their demand and effect the desired change.
