2019 Election: INEC declares Imo North senatorial election inconclusive

Posted by Admin:

The Independent National Electoral Commission may have dashed the hope of Party supporters in Okigwe North following the declaration of the senatorial election on Tuesday as inconclusive.

This is coming two days after the INEC office in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area in the senatorial district was set ablaze by unknown persons.

There were allegations of snatching of ballot boxes, kidnapping of electoral officers and manipulation of the process and is alleged to have made the electoral umpire to declare the process as inconclusive.

A source within INEC said that fresh election shall be held in three LGAs(Isiala Mbano,Ihite-Uboma and Obowo) out of the six LGAs that make up the senatorial district.

Moreso, the source election shall be conducted in six poling units in Okigwe and Onuimo LGAs.

The INEC is expected to fix a re-run election in the Senatorial district on a date yet to be announced.
