…as party hold SE rally for Buhari
The South East rally held by the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Owerri for the re-election of President Muhammudu Buhari was abandoned by most leaders from the geo-political zone.
The participants who started arriving Owerri capital as early as 9.0am on tuesday,july 3,2018 in the chartered busses headed to the Dan Anyiam Stadium, venue of the rally.
Speaking at the venue,Governor Rochas okorocha of Imo state commended President Buhari for his giant stride in the development of the nation while promising of the support of the south-East zone to the re-election in 2019.
In his speech,the national Chairman of the ruling party,Adams Oshimhole blamed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for the decay in the nation’s infrastructure while promising of President Buhari’s drive to do more projects for the geo-political outside the numerous ongoing projects like 2nd Niger bridge and roads. He called for greater support for the president and warned on the danger in allowing the PDP to come back to power.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha who represented the President, called on the Ibos to support Buhari as the ruling government is willing to do more for the zone. He defended the President as never a tribalist but very accommodating and compassionate making it possible for many Christians to be in his government person.
Mustapha concludes by urging the South East zone to support President Buhari’s re-election bid in the 2019 general election as that would redefine the zone while maintaining that the zone like every other has a right to lead the nation.
“The presidency of Nigeria is negotiable and can only be done on position of strength and the strength of the Igbo will be determined by 2019 support for Buhari.’’said Mustapha
However, the day’s programme was temporarily disrupted by the rain as some supporters hurriedly left the venue while APC leaders like Imo Deputy governor,Eze Madumere, ex Governor Orji Uzor Kalu,Ogbonnaya Onu,Senator Ken nnamani,Senator Ifeanyi Ararume,Osita Izunaso,Ben Uwajumogu were never seen in the venue,.
Meanwhile, some women who were interviewed alleged that there were only told to prepare for a trip to Owerri that would be supported with an allowance.
