Ahead of next year’s general election, the State chairman of the Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN), Hon Ben Diribe has called on the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Imo State to begin the process of wind-down as GDPN gets ready to take over.
Diribe, spoke recently during an emergency meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of GDPN in Owerri, calling on Imolites to work with the party to remove the APC led government in Imo state.
The GDPN Chairman described the present administration in Imo state as a dictator-military era, re-stating that a fresh person from another party will manage the state in 2019.
He said, “We commend our elder statesmen and other patriotic Imo people who have spoken up on the urgent need to rid the state of the current bad APC government and enthrone a government that will serve our needs.
“All hands must be on deck to achieve the great task of removing this Governor Okorocha government and replacing it with a government that will fulfill the hopes and aspirations of Imolites.”
Diribe, went on calling on other political parties to join hands with GDPN to wrestle power from the ruling party.
“Because of this challenge, we have taken it upon ourselves, as a dynamic party, to broaden our scope, open our doors and allow ideas to flow in for a more robust democratic development.
“We, therefore, invite our brothers, sisters, youths and women from other political parties to join us to rescue our country that is in distress, socially, politically, economically and security-wise. Our consultations have taken us to meet with various interest groups who are willing to do business with us, and I can report to you that it has been very fruitful. We expect in coming days to have a broader political family working dedicatedly to rescue this democracy and our beloved state from the hands of APC. We can’t do it alone; we need everybody to join us.”Deribe concluded.
