The women who were conveyed from their villages to Owerri for purposes different from what they were told joined the protest match round the Owerri capital city on Friday, January,2018 demanding the national secretariat of All Progressives Congress(APC) to cancel congress result earlier held in Imo State
However, the women met resistance at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the offices of some security Agencies as the Public relation Officers who stood in for their bosses told to seek help through the party organs realising that they are not to participate in internal party processes. The Public Relation Officer who received the women at INEC without mincing word said that their involvement ends with observation and never to schedule, reschedule or cancel congress results.
Speaking on the protest match,the Commissioner for Transport,Mr Laz Okoroaforanyanwu, maintained that most party members are in agreement for the cancellation as there were no congress held. Continuing, he called on politicians to avoid non-democratic practices but to work towards a roboust democratic enterprise in the country.According to him,the governor of Imo state,Rochas Okorocha stands for democratic principles and want a free and fair conduct of primaries.
Meanwhile,some of the women on the protest match never knew that there were being assembled for a protest as they were told that there coming is to participate in a prayer session for the development of Imo state.
