...promises to legislate laws for betterment of Njaba people
Following reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had perfected plans to use the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security forces to rig the 2019 elections, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Imo State and House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Charles Abia has said that the PDP is well prepared for the ruling party's rigging plot.
Speaking at the Imo PDP youths and women rally in Njaba LGA, Abia said despite the fact that the only thing the APC wants to rely on ahead of 2019 election is security forces and rigging, "but go and tell them that we are prepared for a free and fair election and equally prepared for an unfree and unfair election".
He said the number of decampees from the APC into the PDP clearly shows that PDP is on ground in Njaba, adding that such a phenomenon showed that the PDP is well poised to take over Imo State and Njaba LGA in 2019 in particular.
Abia, who is running to represent Njaba State constituency in the House of Assembly in 2019, promised to legislate laws that would better the lives of those in his constituency and speak out against corrupt practices if elected into the Imo State House of Assembly.
He lamented that Njaba LGA over the years had never witnessed effective representation which he said climaxed under the APC representation.
"The major thing in going to the house of assembly is the issue of legislation and the person representing us in the House of Assembly has not been able to push any reasonable Bill. Recall that last year, the only Bill she presented was the Bill to allow grazing reserve for Fulani herdsmen in Imo State. That was a taboo and anathema and we resisted her and initiated a recall process if she didn't withdraw the bill and she had to withdraw it.
"Again, the current member representing Njaba gets constituency allowance on annual basis but has not been able to do any projects with that. But that is characteristics of the APC government, which is embellished with greed, avarice and pride. But in 2019, we'll retire her and the entire APC from active politics", he said.
On the call for him to serve, Abia stated that it has taken him several years to prepare for leadership because "I understandd that leadership is not something that somebody can walk into. It's a calling and I've answered the call for leadership and it's my belief that together we shall liberate Njaba and the entire Imo State from the shackles of bad leadership".
