It was celebration in Owerri,Imo State july 26,2017 as the Nigerian Institute of Evaluators(NAE) berths with a promise to raise the bar of Evaluation in projects and programmes of government at all levels and other sectors.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting, a Project Management Consultant with vast interest in Health, Gender, Food Security and sustainable development, Dr Uzodinma Adirieje quipped that the emergence of NAE was to put a stop to the issue of quackery which has brought about Programmes and Project failures in the system and also, build the capacity of aspiring evaluators.
The NAE as stated by Dr Uzodinma Adirieje is domiciled at the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning and charged with managing Professionalism in the area of research use, utilization and practice of Evaluation in the country.
Continuing, Dr Adirieje who incidentally is the Deputy National Chairman said that the essence is for the nation to attain real value for money spent and the funders would equally get value for money put into various activities towards deepening development.
He maintained that NAE is purely a Professional body with core functions targeted at building capacity and maintaining standard in evaluation to achieve greatest value on scarce resource and enjoined members to build greater capacity towards better result.
The body later elected Dr Uzodinma Adirieje as Interim State Chairman to midwife the Association in Imo State, and Mr Chirs Ekweghiariri as Deputy Chairman.
Others members elected to the Executive position include Mr George Udoha as State Secretary, Nnamdi Ogwazu, Deputy State Secretary, Chief Malachy Uchegbu,Financial Secretary, Mrs Gladys Ogbonna, Treasurer and Damian Duruiheoma as Public Relation Officer.
