The Imo State Government had begun investigation into the death of a 15-year-old pupil of Army Day Secondary School, Obinze, Owerri,Imo State Queendaline Ekezie.
The student, Queendaline Ekezie, according to report is said to have collapsed and died during an intense punishment by soldiers in the school.
The state government through the Commissioner for Education, Gertrude Oduka is said to be in touch with the decessed family as investigations continue to unravel the cause of death.
The State’s Commissioner for Education declines making any commets until further notice to enable the appropriate agencies conduct their individual or collectively investigations.
“We don’t want to issue a statement in a hurry. We have launched an investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the death of the pupil. Some senior officers of the ministry are in the girl’s village. The matter is a sensitive one and we are being careful.”Oduka said
According to information, the deceased,a junior Secondary 3 student is said to have arrived school late in company of her colleague on February 15,2018,but met Soldiers on duty who insisted that the duo fragmarched as punishment for lateness
The soldiers were said to have asked Queendaline to repeat the punishment three times, as the victim collapsed and was rushed to an army hospital where she died.
Meanwhile the corpse of Queendaline is yet to be buried, and no date is fixed yet for the funeral
