Ilomuanya flays dethroned Imo monarch over comments on S/Court ruling

Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, who was recently restored as the Obi of Obinugwu and Chairman, Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, has taken the Obi of Obi-Orodo, Eze Samuel Ohiri to the cleaners, over comments credited to him concerning the ruling of the apex court.

While stressing that the Supreme Court ruling on the tussle over who is the authentic chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers was very clear, he expressed disgust that Ohiri allowed himself to “be pushed into abusively confronting the apex court of Nigeria” describing this as “unfortunate.”

He observed that Eze Ohiri and his paymaster were demonstrating “madness of the highest order” which would produce severe repercussions.

Ilomuanaya who spoke with newsmen in reaction to media reports on the comments of Eze Ohiri maintained it was despicable that the Imo State Government abhors the rule of law and respect for judicial pronouncements.

“In my entire life, I have never witnessed the type of lawlessness and impunity such as we have in Imo State today,” he said.

He spoke further: “How can Ohiri lay claim to the Chairmanship of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers when there are subsisting judicial pronouncements from the High Court to the Supreme Court affirming my chairmanship of the Council? Recall that even in Suit No: HOW/525/2013 which Ohiri himself instituted in an Owerri High Court, seeking amongst others, a declaration that he is the chairman of the Council, was dismissed on May 26, 2014 by the court for being detestable, an abuse of court process and lacking in merit.”

Ilomunanya further disclosed that the Owerri High Court after dismissing the suit of Eze Ohiri against him had ordered that Ohiri should pay him N20,000 for filing such a frivolous suit.

“ I also defeated them at the Court of Appeal and finally the Supreme Court, yet they have continued to disobey the court order. Ohiri is nobody but is merely being used as a front to ridicule the judiciary.

“They interpret laws and judgments as it suits them alone. What we have is the voice of Jacob and hand of Esau.”

He also revealed that Ohiri is facing two criminal cases of contempt of court and impersonation in Suit No: HOW/360/2012 pending before the courts in Owerri. The Sun
